Back in 2011, this concept by Mercedes Benz was first displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It was called the F125 and was more of a concept thn an actual car. But now, this concept car will most likely be the future S-Class in the year 2025.
It may look like a coupe, but it's actually a family sedan with huge gullwing doors. The entire body consists of lightweight materials and is completely electric. There are even electric motors built into each wheel eliminating the need for a driveshaft. Instead of heavy batteries to charge the electric motors, there is a lightwieght hydrogen fuel cell that charges the electric motors. Instead of a giant radiator grille, there are six air vents spread out along the body that provide more airflow and cooling than a traditional grille.
This future S-Class will not only produce zero emissions, it will have the same range as a current diesel car. All the materials to build this car already exist and Mercedes is working on making this car a reality in the next decade. Besides the all electric power, this car would most likely also be able to drive itself. There is no word on its performance or whether it will be excting to drive. Too bad it can't fly around. I guess car companies are not ready to let people into the air just yet.
