Driving a big rig all across the country is quite possibly one of the hardest jobs anyone could do. You spend days, maybe even weeks driving through countless states to deliver stuff that you hope makes it on time. Since this job causes truck drivers to become exhausted, there have been numerous accidents involving big trucks.
Mercedes Benz has come up with a solution that will help truck drivers stay awake and avoid accidents. It's called the Future Truck 2025, and Mercedes Benz believes that this technology will not be ready to produce until the year 2025. Besides the resemblance to Optimus Prime from the Transformers movies, there are no headlights on this truck. That's because it uses slick LED lights that turn on by themselves when it starts to get dark.
The other major thing about this truck is that it drives itself. When the driver feels like they need to take a break, they can just turn the auto driving mode on and the truck takes over, using sensors to map the route and see what other cars are around it. This allows the driver to relax in the luxurious and spacious cabin that this truck offers. It features a Samsung tablet with built in WiFi and reclining seats that also rotate 180 degrees.
Now, drivers can get some sleep knowing that the truck can take them the rest of the way to their destination. The Future Truck is now on display at the International Commercial Vehicles show in Hannover, Germany.
