Top 5 Coolest Car Keys

Before cars were fitted with complicated computer systems, keys for a car were pretty plain. They looked much like house keys, only they could open a door and start a car. Plus, they were much cheaper and easier to duplicate since there were no computer chips inside. But even though car keys have gotten more technical and expensive to duplicate, they have gotten much cooler. Here are five examples of how far the car key has come.

Land Rover/Volkswagen - While other car companies use complicated sensors, both Land Rover and Volkswagen use old fashioned metal to start their cars. Not only does it feel like an old fashioned key, it's pretty fun to pop it out and feel like it's a switchblade.

Mercedes Benz - While being the inventors of the first car, they were the first to use car keys. Today, instead of an old fashioned metal key, Mercedes uses a laser beam that starts the engine.

1960's Ford's - Cars in the 1960's were some of the simplest cars ever made. There were no electronics to power the car except for the lights and the starter. Because they were so cheaply and simply built, they were very easy to steal. If you could fit something that fits into the ignition hole, you could start the car.

Boss Mustang Track Key - Much like a cheap Bugatti Veyron, the Boss Mustang came with two keys. One was a regular key and the other was a track key that unleashed 200 extra horses under the hood.

BMW i8 - This is most likely the coolest key in the world. Not only will it unlock your doors and start the engine, it will give you information about your car including battery range, charging time, and what the current time is.
