Cars that float are not a new idea. The Boston Duck Tours use army trucks that can also move on water. However, this Japanese concept car is the frst electric car that also works on water.
Of course, when they say work on water, they really mean only in emergency situations. Many cars are either lost or totaled during heavy rainstorms and hurricanes. Some people even become trapped inside their vehicles during a flood. But with a built water jet, this car can move you through the flood to safety. It probably won't be very manueverable, so it'll kind of feel like a giant water ride.
Besides the built in water jets, this could be the smallest electri car ever made. At only 8 feet long and 5 feet tall, you would feel a bit cramped inside if you're a tall person. But since there are handle bars instead of a steering wheel, it's almost like riding an electric bike. The company that built this concept have no idea when it will go into production, or if it even will go into production at all. But with many areas being affected by floods every year, it wouldn't hurt to have a car that can get you through some watery areas.
