Jaguar F-Type
In Paris, Jaguar introduced one of the most beautiful Jaguars ever: the all new F-Type.
Continuing on a Jaguar tradition that some thought forever lost in Jaguar's heritage, the F-Type successfully resurrects the two seat convertible sports car in Jaguar's culture. The F-Type is truly a first real sports car by Jaguar in a long time.
Jaguar introduced three trim lines: F-Type, F-Type S and F-Type V8 S. The trims with "S" designation gets sportier treatment, such as Jaguar Adaptive Dynamics suspension damping system, Dynamic Launch Mode for track-driving activities, Limited-Slip Differentials, Active Exhaust system, larger wheels and brakes. Even without all those sporty additions, the base F-Type is still plenty capable a car.
The base F-Type gets the new Jaguar supercharged 3-liter V6 engine with 340HP. The F-Type S gets the same supercharged engine with 380HP, and the V8 S gets a 495HP 5-liter supercharged V8. All three engines combine a supercharger, high compression, direct fuel injection and dual independent variable cam timing (DIVCT). All three trims get an 8-speed "Quickshift" automatic transmission, with sportier ratio for the "S" designation.
The result of the outstanding powertrain is 0 to 60MPH acceleration in 5.1 seconds for the F-Type, 4.8 for the S and 4.2 for the V8 S. The F-Type V8 S has a top speed of 186MPH.
Jaguar also maintained British luxury inside the cabin as well. From hand stitched leather seating to Meridian audio system, the passengers receive traditional Jaguar luxury treatment. The soft-top convertible fold in 12 seconds, at speeds less than 30MPH.
Inline with recent British manufacturing practice, Jaguar paid a lot of attention to environmental friendliness and minimized carbon footprint of the F-Type.
This Jaguar may become the defining car for the brand. The Jaguar F-Type will hit the US showrooms in summer of 2013.
