The Fisker Karma was the first electric car that was actually worth driving. Not only did it drive like a sportscar, it could outrun all the gasoline sportscars as well. But VL Automotive decided to shake things up by putting the LS9 V8 from the Corvette ZR1 into a Fisker Karma and display it at last year's Detroit Auto Show. This year, they've put the same V8 into a convertible Fisker Karma for this year's Detroit Auto Show.
Unlike the last V8 Fisker Karma, this one, called the VL Destino Red Concept, can actually be bought. The engine choices can be either the LS9 V8 or the LT1 V8. It will be rear wheel drive and only come with a six speed automatic, but customers can choose the interior color and trim from Katzkin.
Despite the gas guzzling V8, this is still much more environmentally friendly than most cars. The interior is still full of recycled fabrics and real wood. There is no animal products inside whatsoever. The only thing that makes this politically incorrect is the monster V8 under the hood. But it's nice to be a little carefree, especially when you put your foot down and actually hear an engine noise instead of dead silence.
