America is known for it's crazy police chases, with the suspect in a giant muscle car trying to outrun police in an old Ford Crown Victoria. To kick off at this weekends Dream Cruise event in Detroit, Dodge has unveiled not only a 707-hp Hellcat version of their Charger, they also unveiled a version that police can use to go after the Hellcat.
While the Hellcat Charger now holds the title of fastest four door sedan with a top speed of 204 mph, the Pursuit version isn't so bad either. Engine choices can be either a 292-hp V6 or a 370-hp V8. Now both engines don't compare to the monster 707-hp V8 in the Hellcat, but it will have the advantage in the handling department since I'm pretty sure the Hellcat will just be blowing smoke and spinning its tires every time it hits a corner.
The Charger Pursuit vehicle also has better brakes, a digital instrument panel as well as a giant center display to look for crooks. There's even room and outlets for officers to plug in their equipment to track all the people they pull over.
Of course, this new Police Charger isn't going to stop people from speeding and trying to outrun the cops. It'll just give them a reason to see how fast this new Charger really is and whether it can outrun most of the fast cars on the road today.
