Whether you like the idea of self-driving cars or not, it seems that's where the automotive world is headed. Even the car maker that is the first with everything automotive has jumped into the self-driving car idea. But Mercedes Benz isn't just showing off a regular self-driving car, it's showing a self-driving lounge.
Known simply as the F 015 Luxury in Motion, this autonomous car doesn't look like anything Mercedes currently makes, except for the three pointed star in the front. It looks almost like a flying ship that came from the future. The front doors are bigger than other Mercedes doors to allow entering and exiting to be much easier, and the back open in suicide style like a luxury limousine.
Inside, things start looking way different. It's almost like sitting inside a mansion with the combination of wood, glass and leather covering the interior. There are also large touch screens that show the occupants everything from information on their car to what's going on around them as they sit back and let the car do all the work.
Mercedes hasn't specified what engine will be doing the driving, but it seems that they did take some ideas with their Future Truck 2025 to help them with the look of the car. At the moment, this is just a concept car that Mercedes is throwing around. But, if futuristic predictions do come true, we may be seeing many of these self-driving Mercedes on the road sooner than we think. The F 015 Luxury in Motion will be on display at the CES electronics expo in Las Vegas.
