On January 7 in Gainesville, Georgia, a truck carrying chickens to be slaughtered flipped over on US 129, killing all the chickens inside. After hearing about the crash, some people at PETA felt that the chickens didn't get enough sympathy and have sent a letter requesting that a ten foot tombstone be built at the crash site for a month honoring the chickens.
The annoying people at PETA feel that since Gainesville is known as the poultry capital of the world, they should have more respect for their chickens. The driver of the crash didn't have any injuries thankfully. But the people over at PETA seem to care more about animals than people.
Chances are the town will do what everyone else does when PETA requests something ridiculous, just ignore and deny their request. The state of Georgia will also be looking at removing the memorials for people who have died at crash sites claiming that they cause a distraction for drivers and could lead to other accidents. Instead, there will be 15-inch discs with the name of the person who died at that site and will only be there for a year before giving it to the family of the deceased. Chances for a chicken memorial are pretty much non existent. Take that PETA.
