It�s been over 30 years since the 70�s oil crisis happened. You�d think that most of the cars being driven today would be small cars that get unbelievable fuel economy. However, it seems that the most popular car being bought today isn�t a small car. In fact, it�s not even considered a car at all. The most popular car being bought today is a pickup truck. Now I�ve driven a Ford Ranger, one of the models being bought along the Ford F-150 and the Dodge Ram. After driving it a few times, I can�t seem to figure out the huge popularity behind this type of car. Sure, it has a powerful engine that sounds like an airplane engine. But other than that, I don�t see the big deal. It�s not particularly fast, the steering is completely awful, and it�s way too big to drive in a fun and exciting way. The only thing a truck is useful for is to deliver heavy things like car arts or a load of lumber. That�s about it. I prefer small cars not just because they�re easier to drive on the road, but they�re lighter, making them much faster and more exciting to drive than a truck. Of course, since trucks are not considered cars, they don�t have to pass as many emission or safety tests like most other cars. Due to that, almost all pickups are cheaply made, and can�t handle any kind of corner or bump that�s on the road. This not only makes driving one very uncomfortable, but dangerous as well. Maybe once gas prices become unbelievably high, maybe people will realize that all trucks are dumb and will get a normal small car for a change. But we�ll see. That�s what they said after the oil crisis happened over 30 years ago.
