When people hear the name McLaren, they usually think of their supercars like the P1 and 650S. Even though they make supercars, they're not actually considered a sports car maker. Mostly because they compete with other supercar makers like Ferrari and Lamborghini. Now, McLaren is going down into the sports car market with a much cheaper sports car.
It's called the 570S and like its name suggests, it makes 570-horsepower from a 3.8-liter twin turbo V8. That's considerably less power compared to the insane 903-horsepower that the P1 makes. This gets the car from 0-62 mph in around 3.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 204 mph. It may be slower than their other cars, but it would give Porsche and Mercedes Benz a run for their money.
It still has that legendary McLaren look, but it's a bit smaller and, according to McLaren, easier to get in and out and even can be used as a daily driver. The interior is spacious and features more conveniences than racing gear. It features a useful touchscreen and a stereo system complete with either four, eight, or twelve speakers. Of course, you'll still want to turn off the music just to hear that McLaren engine noise when you put your foot down. The 570S will be making its debut next week at the New York Auto Show.
