Jeep Goes Hardcore with the Grand Cherokee SRT Hellcat

Back in the 1940's, the people over at Willys decided to help the U.S. during WWII by providing vehicles for the Army that could handle any type of terrain. They were known simply as General Purpose vehicles or GP for short. They were extremely uncomfortable, but they could go through any terrain and helped win the war.

Today, the name Jeep is widely known for it's off-roading vehicles, but since they were bought by Fiat, it seems that the Jeep is starting to lose it's masculinity. Sure, the new Cherokee does work well off-road, but it has that weird looking face. Plus, the new Renegade is nothing but a Fiat city car designed to look like a Jeep. It's time for Jeep to get back in shape and become the manly brand it used to be.

There are rumors that the Grand Cherokee may be getting a Hellcat makeover. There is already Hellcat versions of the Dodge Charger and Challenger, just imagine what a Hellcat Jeep would be like. The 707-hp V8 would be fitted into the existing Grand Cherokee SRT and with the legendary Jeep 4WD system, this should handle quite well both on the track as well as off-road.

Since Land Rover just released the Range Rover Sport SVR, this Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat could give the sissy Range Rover a run for it's money. Despite Fiat making the Jeep brand soft, we can still be sure that Jeep hasn't completely left it's roots. The Grand Cherokee Hellcat may be making its debut next month at the Chicago Auto Show. There has been no confirmation on this yet, so we'll just have to hope that the rumors are true.
