2014 Mazda3
Mazda redesigned its best selling compact Mazda3 from ground up, and showcased it to the world at an event in Manhattan.
The 2014 Mazda3 is a stylish car. Contrary to most other economy-oriented automotive designs, Mazda opted to do a "cab rearward" construction for the car. The resulting look is sporty and almost reminiscent of a two-seater sporty car. With the A-pillar almost 4 inches pushed back, the driver and the front passenger have much less obstructed views. With the more rounded rear rooftop design, the rear passengers get more head and shoulder rooms as well.
Inside the cabin, Mazda implemented its new Active Driving Display for the driver. It is a clear pop-up display that is mounted behind the meter hood, and the display shows the car's speed, navigation and other information without having the driver to look away from the windshield.
With the full implementation of Mazda's fuel-efficient SKYACTIV technology, the body is lighter, the brake is regenerative, and suspension and brake are more responsive. New to the Mazda3 is the SKYACTIV-G 2.5L gasoline engine. In additional to the current 2.0L 155HP configuration, the 2.5L version will output 184HP at 5,700RPM and 185lb-ft of torque at 3,250RPM.
The new Mazda3 comes available with Mazda's safety system named i-ACTIVSENSE. This system includes Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Departure Warning System, Forward Obstruction Warning, and other advanced technological features that alert drivers when dangerous situations arise. This new premium safety systems provides additional safety measures on top of the long list of standard safety features, such as 6 air bags, traction control, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, dynamic stability control and others.
The all-new Mazda3 will hit the showrooms in autumn of 2013.
