Car Review: BMW Z4 sDrive35is

Most BMWs seemed to be more concerned with technology and fuel efficiency than actual driving. With the Z4 though, things look a bit different. From the looks of the car, the Z4 looks like an old fashioned roadster that thrills you every time you drive it. This car is definitely beautiful, even with the familiar BMW kidney grille.

Inside most other BMWs, there is so much technology that it feels like driving a computer. All this technology gets rather annoying and takes away from the actual driving experience. Inside the Z4 however, all the annoying technology is taken out. All youre left with is a steering wheel and some pedals. Even the GPS is taken out as well. When youre driving this car though, you wont need GPS because youll just want to drive with no particular destination.

The M sports edition gives the Z4 the feeling of a proper roadster as you drive it. The original 3.0 liter inline six engine has now been given a turbocharger. This now boosts power from 255hp to 335hp. This will now throw you back into your seat and give you a huge rush as you go from 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds. Thats 0.8 seconds faster than the original Z4. Top speed though is still electronically limited to 155 mph.
You will get a bit of a surprise when you go around a corner. Turning hard into a corner, this car starts to fight back by giving a slight feeling of under steer. This is surprising since most other BMWs are tame and do what you expect. This becomes an animal and starts fighting back. In order to control the savageness, you have to show it whose boss and keep the power on as you turn. You will start to drift, but the back end will come back since you are now in control again.
Another surprising thing is how much space this car for the size it is. The trunk is big enough to fit not only two pairs of golf clubs, but also two pairs of skis. You will have to decide whether youre going golfing or skiing, because it only has room for one or the other.

This is definitely what a roadster should be. A car that has great looks, room for two, and the ferociousness of something that makes you work in the corners and push you into your seat in a straight line. This is by far the best car BMW has ever made.
Special thanks to Fields BMW of Winter Park for test vehicle.
