Aston Martin Hits the Track with the Vulcan

Aston Martin Hits the Track with the Vulcan

For many Brits and James Bond fans, Aston Martin is the typical car for gentlemen who want to get somewhere both quickly and in style. They may go fast and sound great, but they feel more like a car for goody two shoes rather than bad boys. Most of the rebellious types would probably go for Jaguars. Very rarely would you see one on the track, unless there was a track version of an existing model.

But now, Aston Martin has let it's hair down and has decided to do something different. They have made a car specifically designed for the track. It's called the Vulcan and from the looks of it, you wouldn't believe that this was and Aston Martin. The striking body is made entirely from carbon fiber and features a track designed push rod suspension.

Things start to go really crazy when you hear what powers this car. It is Aston Martins famous V12 that has gone from 5.9 liters to 7.0 liters. This jump in size allows for more power, an estimated 800-hp, but chances are it may be more than that. Not only does this engine sound great, it even shoots out flames from the exhaust if you hit the gas pedal just right.

This sounds like a very exciting car, until you hear that Aston Martin is only making 24 of them. Prices are probably too high to ask and are most likely already sold out, but the 24 lucky owners do get special driving lessons on the track with their car. The Vulcan may be a limited edition car, but it does have design elements that will go into future Aston Martin cars. Since you most likely won't be able to afford this car, you can see it next week in Switzerland at the Geneva Motor Show.
