There has been lots of talk about what cars may be like in the near future. With oil slowly going into extinction and people becoming more and more fed up with driving, it seems that autonomous cars may be making their appearance quicker than we think.
One British designer named Dominic Wilcox thinks that all cars will eventually become driverless. With this in mind, he has designed a car made out of wood, like the people over at Morgan, and then made it look like a giant stained glass lamp that you might find at Pottery Barn. Inside, there are no controls at all, not even any safety equipment like seatbelts or airbags. All you get is a bed to enjoy the ride in.
Now that does sound quite appealing, especially if you're heading home after a date; you can just have fun in the car instead of going back to your place. But realistically, all cars do require some form of safety equipment to be allowed on the road, so a seat and maybe seatbelts may be required first.
The stained glass car will be making its debut this week at the Dezeen and Mini Frontiers design festival in London to promote future ideas for mobility. While I'm still not completely sold on autonomous driving, this will make looking at other cars on the road much more interesting and pretty. Plus, who hasn't wanted to fool around in their car while the car does all the driving?
