To this day, the Mazda MX-5 Miata is one of the best selling two seater convertibles in the world. It's been around for a few generations and is now about to hit its fourth generation. Last night, Mazda debuted the new model in Monterey, CA. The next debut will most likely be at the Paris Motor Show.
While the current Miata had a bit of a bland looking figure compared to other two seater convertibles, this new Miata has a much more striking appearance. With those slanted headlights and the sexy lines all over the place, this will definitely give the car a second glance in the looks department. Inside, the same cramped interior still exists, but there seems to be more of a focus on the driver this time around.
The big difference is the weight. The new Miata has dropped a total of 220 pounds, a lot for a small car like this. This should allow the car to be much more lively in the corners and way more fun to drive. There was no mention of what will power this car, but chances are it will be a four cylinder engine. Hopefully, there will be a turbocharger to make the car more lively.
Since this is a 2016 model, we most likely won't see this car until sometime next year. As the most successful roadster in the world, the MX-5 Miata can still hold its own in the two seater convertible fight.
