Hennessey Venom F5 Looking at Hitting the 290 mph Mark

Hennessey Venom F5 Looking at Hitting the 290 mph Mark

When the Hennessey Venom GT looked to stomp on the Bugatti Veyron's top speed, it managed to crush it with 270 mph. Sadly, the Guiness Book of World Records didn't catagorize it as an official record. So now, the people over at Hennessey are not only looking at trying again for the record, but also to make the top speed even faster.

This new Venom is known as the F5, named after the type of tornado classification. The twin turbo V8 will now be redone to deliver up to 1400 horepower, maybe even more than that. That's about the same amount of power as the new Koenigsegg One:1. The body will have the same Lotus look to it, but it will be much more aerodynamic in order to avoid drag as well as offering plenty of downforce to keep the car stable and on the ground.

After all this rework, the new Venom is expected to hit 290 mph, about the same speed that it takes a fighter jet to get off the ground. The company is looking at testing out the new car in Bonneville, but no date has been set yet. Only 30 models of the F5 will be built, and the price is likely to be around $1.2 million each. If you ever wanted a car that can outrun a Bugatti Veyron, you should probably start saving your dollars.
