There has been talk about the famous land speed car that is looking to break the 1000 mph mark. The developers have already talked about how they plan to do this, as well as who will be driving. The actual land speed test will take place in the African Desert in 2016.
Many facts regarding the look of the car as well as what powers it have been said already, but no one has seen what the inside looks like. Now, there is finally a look at the spaceship looking interior of the Bloodhound SSC. Inside is a cross between an F1 car and a space shuttle. All the screens not only tell the driver how fast he's going, they also tell him exactly what to do at a certain time. Other screens are mostly just there in case something goes wrong. With the large number of things to go wrong, it doesn't hurt to be safe. The really neat thing is that the cockpit was designed specifically for the driver.
It will definitely be quite a sight when this car takes off. It will be going a mile every 3.6 seconds and on to an estimated speed of 1100 mph. Two parachutes will be used to stop this car, which will generate around 3G's of force. That's going to leave the driver with a stiff neck. I highly doubt any production car will ever hit that speed, but most people never thought cars would ever go beyond 200 mph. We'll see in two years not only history and the record books possibly changing, but also a new direction for the car industry.
