Many car companies have had some car models designed by Pininfarina, the legendary Italian design house. Ferrari, Massarati, and Alfa Romeo have all had at least one car model deigned by Pininfarina. Now the legendary design team have made a spectacular concept for BMW.
Known as the Gran Lusso Coupe, this 2 door sports sedan takes much of it's roots from the BMW 6-Series. Unlike other BMW sedans which are a bit boring to look at, this has some Italian beauty thrown in. From the swoopy design flare on the doors, to the look of the tailights, this is a BMW that is actually worth looking at. It's much wider than other BMW's, but the extra width does give the car a more intimidating look.
Despite the gorgeous look on the outside, the interior is typical BMW. There is a luxurious feel, but there is so much technology thrown in that you don't have time to notice the luxurious elegance. The one thing that will most likely make up for all the technology is the engine underneath. Unlike other BMW's that have more fuel efficient engines, the Gran Lusso Coupe has a 6.0L V12. BMW has not put their V12 into a car for many years. With 536 hp, this is bound to be a fast car.
Unfortunately, no one will most likely ever find out. BMW has noted that it will most likely not put the Gran Lusso Coupe into production. BMW have also not said whether any true prouction car will ever be designed by Pinifarina, but chances are that this is where future BMW's will be headed. Hopefully we will see more cars like this from one of the most valubale car companies sometime in the future. At least though you can finally say that not only is a BMW gorgeous to look at, but also a work of art.
