Danica Patrick Wins Daytona 500 Pole

Danica Patrick Wins Daytona 500 Pole

For the first time in Nascar history, the person who won the pole position wasn't a guy. It was Nascar's only female racer and my favorite Nascar racer, Danica Patrick.

Despite only racing in Nascar for a year and crashing during last year's qualifying race, Patrick has shown that even girls can race in Nascar. Even though she started in eighth place, she showed all the racers and spectators that girls are way better at sports than guys. She even outran Nascar legend Jeff Gordon, who got second place and became the fastest man to win the Daytona 500 Pole.

While most people think that Patrick should just stick to modeling and makeup, I'm glad she showed everyone that she's not just a pretty face. I'm sure everyone was in quite a bit of shock after that day.

I would love to see more girls compete in Nascar races, since after a while, seeing just men race around an oval can get a bit annoying after a while. Due to winning the Daytona 500 pole, Patrick doesn't have to worry about qualifying for the Daytona 500 race. I really hope that Danica Patrick steps it up even more and wins the Daytona 500 series just to show those guys that Nascar is no longer a man's sport.
