Not many British car makers can say that they've been around for 100 years. The last British car maker to celebrate 100 years in the business was Aston Martin. Now, there is another British car maker celebrating 100 years in the business. That car maker is the Morgan Motor Company.
Judging by their cars, you wouldn't expect Morgan to have survived 100 years making cars the way they do. Not only are their cars made out of wood, but they look like they came from the 1920's, which is kind of true since that's when most of their current models were introduced.
To celebrate this milestone, Morgan will be celebrating with tradition. The car that will be introduced is called the Plus 8 Speedster. It will look like a classic Morgan with a long hood and room for just two people. Power comes from a 367-horsepower BMW V8, allowing the car to go from 0-60 mph in around 4.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 148 mph.
Besides most components being made out of wood, the chassis will completely made out of aluminum. There will also be a long, leather belt keeping the hood shut like past roadsters from the 1920's. Like all other Morgans, customers will be able to have their cars completely customized to whatever they like. Options range from the color of the body, the color and shaped of the wheels, and the option of a roof in case it starts to rain.
Production of this car will begin in June and will be ready to pick by the end of summer, costing around 69,995 pounds. What better way to celebrate 100 years of tradition than by continuing to do what they did 100 years ago.
