Land Rover's all-new Range Rover Sport set a new record for the production SUV category at Pikes Peak.

The Range Rover Sport maneuvered the hill's 156 corners at a breakneck average speed of over 59 MPH. The SUV's 5L 510HP supercharged V8 engine successfully tamed the treacherous 14,000 feet altitude, with less than 60% oxygen density.

The renowned 12.42-mile Pikes Peak course, along with Bonneville and Nurburgring, is one of the top testing grounds for automobiles and their drivers. Considering that the fastest record to date is 9 minutes 46.164 seconds (set by Rhys Millen with his Hyundai Genesis Coupe), the Range Rover Sport's 12 minutes 35.61 seconds finish is quite admirable.

With this new record under its belt, the new Range Rover Sport proved that Land Rover's still got it. Kudos.
