Engine
Engineers at BMW have added new engine choices and for the X5, and will continued to be offered in rear wheel drive. The excellent performance of the vehicle continues with 3 model choices with a 3.0 Liter inline 6 turbo engine that produces 300 horsepower, a 3.0 liter inline 6 diesel that gives you 265 horsepower, and the top of the line 50i that has a 4.4 liter V8 engine that brings on 400 horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard on all along with BMW's 8 speed automatic transmission.
Efficient Dynamics Technology and Connect Drive are two upgrades that BMW has patented and is standard. Smart drive technology runs throughout the X5 to give drivers better performance, control and safety.
Exterior
The 2014 X5 has seen its exterior take on a new body style. With a boxier front and wider kidney grille, the vehicle takes on an even sportier feel. The wider body accentuates the vehicles strong lines that is BMW's patented style and design.
The X5 still contains many of its staple design elements like circular headlamps and a sharply lined bumper. In addition, the chrome exterior accents highlight the X5's luxury feel without stripping it of its sporty charm.
Interior
The new 2014 X5 has an interior not seen in many sports utility vehicles. The interior designers for BMW have used premium quality materials to accentuate the beauty of the X5. The LED lights, luxury interior trims available in fine wood grain and pearl gloss chrome are used throughout the vehicle for a high class look.
The control display is free standing and slightly over 10 inches. In addition, it comes complete with iDriver and new technology to control the temperature. You have a choice of two design packages: Pure Experience or Pure Excellence. These packages present a variety of color choices and the top of the line Nappa or Dakota leather gives the sporty X5 just the right amount of luxury drivers' desire.
Built in the United States, the 2014 BMW X5 is set to launch in Germany on November 2013. A stateside release date has not been announced.
