Apparently, more people are looking to get smaller cars in order to be more fuel efficient. Of course, with a smaller car, you do run into a few problems. The space inside will be incredibly cramped and uncomfortable. You won't be going very fast either sinc there's not a lot of room for a big engine. But the main problem is the laughs you'll be getting because driving a really small car is not a good look for anyone. Here a five examples of why smaller isn't always the best way to go.
Peel P50 - This car is listed in the Guiness World Records as the smallest production car ever made. It looks more like a kid's toy car rather than an actual car. You only get one door, and getting inside is a huge chore. You will be going slower than a bicycle and you'll feel like you being squished by the car. You will however be able to park anywhere and you can pick it up and bring anywhere as well.
G-Whiz - By far one of the stupidest cars ever made. You can park sideways like a Smart, but you won't have much time to park before the battery runs out of juice. It's not cute or pretty, and it's one of the most dangerous cars since it will kill ayone inside if involved in a crash.
Smart Fortwo - A very popular city car. It can park sideways, but there's no room in the back to put anything. It not very fast either. The best thing to do is get the Brabus Smart which is an ordinary Smart which has been tuned to go from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds. You'll definitely surprise people when your small car is going faster than all the other cars around you.
Fiat 500 - It may be a remake of a car from the 1950's but there is room for 4 people. It will be cramped, but everyone will fit inside. The original 500 is not a particularly fast car, but the Abarth version will go from 0-60 in 6.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 129 mph. Much faster than the original, but still not by much compare to other cars.
BMW Isetta -The most famous of all the bubble cars of the 1960's. You can fit two people inside, but you will be pretty much on top of each other. Hoepfully you're quite comfortable with each other. The big problem with this car is that the door is located at the front. If you park up against a wall, you won't be able to get out. Also, if you remember how Steve Urkel looked in his Isetta, you know it's not the best look when driving around.
So there you go. It may make sense to buy a smaller car to save on fuel, but you'll lose both respect as well as any dignity you may have. Instead of a big car or a small car, get a medium sized car instead. A sedan, hatchback, coupe, or roadster are way better to be seen in, they're faster, and they're way more fun to drive.
